We are delighted to announce The Press and Journal Energy Ball 2019 will support Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance at the award ceremony on Saturday November 30 at Aberdeen’s new P&J Live venue.

Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) provides the country’s only charity-funded helicopter air ambulance, which operates 12 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Providing a life-saving, fast response, the SCAA is recognised as a vital part of the country’s 999 emergency response. The air ambulance flies paramedics to the scene of serious illness and injury, then airlifts patients to hospital.

In 2018, the air ambulance responded to 325 emergencies – all of which were life-threatening.

Everything from the paramedics’ wages to fuel for the air ambulance is paid for thanks to generous public donations, as SCAA is not supported by government funding.

The charity is aiming to launch a second much-needed helicopter, Helimed 79, at its Aberdeen base. In a bid to save more lives, the charity is hoping to raise £6 million to turn its vision into a reality.
