With a history stretching back over 80 years, Widerøe was founded in Norway in 1934 and today operates a fleet of 42 turboprop and three jet aircraft carrying 3 million passengers to 46 domestic and international destinations every year.
Over the years Widerøe, has played a small but decisive part in the Norwegian oil adventure and understands the needs of the energy sector. For eight decades, Widerøe’s extensive network of frequent departures has connected people with the world’s energy hubs. Aberdeen was Widerøe’s only international destination for many years but the company now enjoys a growing international footprint with current growth in the route network including Billund, Copenhagen, Gothenburg and London, Hamburg and Munich later this year. Capacity is also being increased to Aberdeen from Stavanger and Bergen.
In April 2018, Widerøe became the world launch customer for Embraer’s flagship jet aircraft E190-E2 and the first airport the jet visited after delivery from Brazil was Aberdeen International Airport.
